PVA fiber (polyvinyl alcohol fiber) is the first domestically produced synthetic fiber in Japan, industrialized by Kuraray in 1950—the first such achievement in the world.
It has such features as high fiber strength and excellent weatherability and chemical resistance. It is used in a wide range of fields from industrial to industrial and agricultural applications.
We have also developed a new type of PVA-based fiber using Kuraray's proprietary "solvent wet-cooled gel spinning "and offer water-soluble and high-strength types of fiber.

Main Products
PVA fiver (concrete reinforcement applications)
With its high strength, high modulus of elasticity, excellent alkali resistance, and good adhesion to cement, it is used to control cracking of mortar, to add toughness, to resist abrasion, to resist freezing damage, and to prevent spalling.
PVA fiber (for reinforcing paper and non-woven fabrics)
PVA fiber has not only the main fiber, but also binder fibers that melt and act as an adhesive in the papermaking process. It is also used in alkaline battery separators due to its high alkali resistance.
PVA fiber (for rubber materials)
PVA fiber filaments are strong, elongation-resistant, and dimensionally stable, and are used in a wide range of applications, including reinforcement of rubber products and plastics, and civil engineering applications.

PVA fiber (for agricultural materials)
Agricultural shade cloth, which uses PVA fiber, has the ability to retain moisture due to the material's water absorbency, protecting plants from leaf scorch and dryness. The fine fluff provides insect repellency and good light shielding.
KURALON K-Ⅱ™ (New PVA-based fiber)
It is used as a textile processing auxiliary material for hollow spun yarn, non-twisted towels, and chemical lace base fabrics. The melting temperature can be controlled from room temperature to high temperature, making it suitable for a wide range of applications and grades.
FRC (Fiber Reinforced Cement) Tiles
This lightweight roof tile has improved strength and impact resistance by adding cut PVA fiber to cement. It is used not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries.
