Thorough Compliance Measures

1. Basic Principles of Compliance

In accordance with the Kuraray Group’s fundamental principles of compliance—namely, “Our Commitment” and “Kuraray Group Code of Conduct”—and taking into account our unique characteristics as a trading company, we have established a highly effective framework and are implementing meticulous initiatives.

Based on the fundamental principle of being a good corporate citizen toward all stakeholders, we will build appropriate relationships with the entire supply chain—including our customers, processing plants, suppliers, and logistics providers. We will also do our best to support our coworkers as much as possible.

2. Compliance Activities

(1) Compliance Committee

With the aim of maintaining and strengthening compliance and enhancing the effectiveness of our internal control system, we have established a Compliance Committee, which is responsible for formulating and planning measures to strengthen our compliance framework and monitoring the status of their implementation.
In recent years, to gather a wide range of opinions from within the company and ensure our initiatives are more effective, we have expanded the scope of this committee to include not only managers in non-operational departments but also members in diverse roles—such as those in sales, career hires, and heads of overseas offices—thereby strengthening the committee’s organizational structure.

(2) Efforts to Embed Compliance Within the Company

To ensure these practices take root within the company, we are focusing on planning and conducting necessary training and establishing an whistleblowing system (described below). We design training programs with content tailored to their specific objectives and target audiences.

  1. Purpose of the Training
    • Cultivating Motivation… Cultivating the Mindset to Do the Right Thing
    • Controlling Opportunities… Building a Sound Organization That Eliminates Opportunities for Fraud
    • Knowledge-based education… Education on what is wrong, what is right, and so on

  2. Target Audience for the Training
We select participants based on the purpose of the program and its expected training outcomes.
    • By Position… Executive Management, Supervisors, General Employees, etc.
    • By Job Category… Sales, Administrative, Management, etc.
    • By location… locations in Japan, overseas locations, etc.

3. Whistleblowing System

Employee Counseling Center

The Kuraray Group has set up the Kuraray Group Employee Counseling Room for Group employees in Japan and the Global Compliance Hotline for Group employees worldwide.

In addition to these measures, we have established our own employee counseling office as a more accessible and approachable resource, where we strive to identify even the earliest signs of minor issues. We accept inquiries through various channels, including an online suggestion box, a physical suggestion box, email, and regular mail.

4. Kuraray Group Policy on Human Rights

The Kuraray Group promotes efforts to prevent, remedy, and mitigate human rights risks in its business activities based on the Kuraray Group Human Rights Policy.
Please note that inquiries are accepted via the Kuraray corporate website and are handled through the JaCER (Japan Center for Engagement and Remedy on Business and Human Rights) platform.
