Activated carbon is a carbon material made by reacting carbon materials such as coconut shells and coal with gases and chemicals at high temperatures, and is equipped with micropores (10-200 Å diameter 10 Å = 1 nm).
Kuraray Co., Ltd. began producing activated carbon KURARAY COAL™ in 1965.

KURARAY COAL™ GLC is an activated carbon with well-developed microscopic to macroscopic pores, making it suitable for decolorizing highly concentrated solutions.

Major applications include decolorization in the food industry, such as amino acids, brewing, sodium glutamate, glucose, sugar, molasses, and gelatin, as well as decolorization and purification of various industrial chemicals and intermediates.
