SEPTON™

High-performance thermoplastic elastomer
General Name
Thermoplastic elastomer

SEPTON™ is a hydrogenated styrenic thermoplastic elastomer developed by further developing Kuraray's accumulated proprietary technologies.

It consists of a hard block of polystyrene and a soft block of polyolefin structure (hydrogenated polydiene). The flexible soft block exhibits rubber-like elasticity. In addition, SEPTON™ is hydrogenated, which gives it superior heat and weather resistance compared to unhydrogenated elastomers.

There are SEPS, SEEPS, and SEBS grade groups according to differences in the structure of the soft blocks, and a variety of grades with different styrene and molecular weights are available.

Each has different properties and is mainly used as a raw material for thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds for daily necessities, medical parts, and automotive parts. It is also used for resin modification, adhesives, oil modification, etc.
